Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and least crowded routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering trekkers the opportunity to experience the mountain's diverse ecosystems and stunning vistas. It is considered a more gradual and safer ascent, providing adequate time for acclimatization, which increases the chances of reaching the summit. The Lemosho route typically starts from the western side of the mountain and converges with the Machame Route at the Shira Plateau. The climb is known for its beauty, ranging from dense rainforests to alpine deserts and the rugged, glacial summit. This route is ideal for those seeking a more tranquil and visually rewarding adventure.
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to the Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the climb, located on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. From here, you’ll begin your trek through the lush rainforest of Kilimanjaro. The forest is rich with wildlife, and you’ll likely encounter species like blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and various bird species. The trail is relatively gentle, with moderate uphill walking that leads you to Mti Mkubwa Camp. This is a beautiful campsite nestled in the dense forest, where you’ll enjoy your first night on the mountain.
