Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
  • Start Altitude: 1,800m

  • End Altitude: 3,000m

  • Distance: 11 km

  • Trek Time: 5–7 hours

The journey begins at the Machame Gate, winding through dense rainforest filled with monkeys, waterfalls, and birds. Machame Camp sits in a misty clearing surrounded by tall trees.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
  • Altitude: 3,000m to 3,850m

  • Distance: 5 km

  • Trek Time: 4–6 hours

This leg climbs through moorlands with giant heather shrubs. Upon reaching Shira Plateau, you get stunning views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
  • Altitude: Up to 4,600m, then down to 3,950m

  • Distance: 10 km

  • Trek Time: 6–8 hours

The day’s high point is Lava Tower, a 300ft volcanic plug that aids in acclimatization. The descent to Barranco Camp offers views of the famous Barranco Wall, which you'll tackle tomorrow.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
  • Altitude: 3,950m to 4,673m

  • Distance: 9 km

  • Trek Time: 7–9 hours

Climb the Barranco Wall, navigate across several ridges and valleys, then push toward Barafu Camp, your summit base. Prepare for summit night with an early dinner and a few hours’ rest.

Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, Down to Mweka Camp
  • Altitude: 4,673m to 5,895m, then down to 3,100m

  • Distance: 17 km

  • Trek Time: 12–15 hours

Summit night begins around midnight. Hike slowly to Stella Point and then to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After your moment at the summit, descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 5 :Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
  • Altitude: 3,100m to 1,640m

  • Distance: 10 km

  • Trek Time: 3–4 hours

The final stretch leads back through verdant rainforest. At Mweka Gate, receive your summit certificate and celebrate your incredible achievement.
